Abstract
This paper describes the factors that cause stress in university students based on a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional research design, which used three validated measurement instruments which provided significant information for the analysis and interpretation of the phenomenon under study. Significantly, the study was composed of a sample of students made up mainly of women aged between 18 and 25. The results obtained by the Academic Stressors Scale, according to the nine dimensions evaluated, identified that 22.95 % of students experience academic stress. Parallel to these data, the EEP-10 instrument was used to measure students' perception of psychological stress. The results determined that 33.88 % also perceive stress in everyday situations. Finally, the Academic Stress Perception Scale identified that 22.46 % of students specifically experience stress in the academic area, precisely during certain periods (the last week of midterm exams).
